A little autumn afternoon in Manhattan! This darling vintage baby dress and matching beret by The Children’s Place is full of romantic details, colorful embroidery, and the sweetest old-fashioned charm. With its rich black velvet, delicate pink flowers, and deep red accents, this precious two-piece ensemble feels like something a fashionable little New Yorker would wear for a beautiful fall day in the city!

This particular style has always been one of my personal favorites! I actually had this exact outfit in my collection before, and it sold so quickly. I loved it so much that I couldn’t resist searching for another, and I was lucky enough to find one! I’m so happy to have this beautiful little piece back in my collection, even if it’s only for a little while.

I also wanted to mention that I had to source the dress and matching beret separately from different vintage vendors to bring this little set back together. Because of the additional sourcing costs involved in finding both pieces, the price is higher than when I originally offered this outfit. I always try to keep my pricing as fair as possible while reflecting the time, care, and effort that goes into finding these special vintage treasures.

The dress features a sleeveless bodice with a sweet rounded neckline, a rich red velvet ribbon waistband, and a beautifully gathered skirt that creates a lovely, full silhouette. Tiny embroidered flowers in shades of pink, fuchsia, and green dance across the black fabric, connected by delicate silver-toned swirling vines. The contrasting red ribbon adds the perfect pop of color.

The matching black velvet beret is just as special, featuring the same colorful floral embroidery and whimsical vine detailing. Together, these pieces create the sweetest little outfit for crisp autumn afternoons, family photographs, special occasions, or a stroll through the city.

Made by The Children’s Place, this charming vintage ensemble is believed to date to approximately the late 1990s–early 2000s, although its exact year is unknown.
